Setting spray’s have been around for a while but it seems
now even drug store shelves have jumped on the setting spray bandwagon like a Giants “fan” during the World Series!!!☺ So which ones really
come thru and truly keep your makeup in place all day??? Keep reading to hear
my take on these 3, highly regarded setting sprays and make your own opinion.
Makeup Forever Mist and Fix ~
My
personal Opinion: Let me first just say that I
absolutely LOVE Makeup Forever and have been using MUFE foundations, powders,
and concealers for a couple of years. Their products certainly deliver in the complexion
perfection department however I couldn’t help but feel like the Mist and Fix
Setting Spray came up short. I will agree that the skin does feel hydrated and
the spray is light weight but I felt as though I was just spraying water on my
face with a spray bottle. My biggest gripe was the finish. My skin felt and looked
a little too wet/dewy which doesn’t pair well with my already greasy t-zone. I
really really wanted to love this product ( used it for a good 2-3 weeks before
coming to my conclusion) but my overall rating is ….meh ….it just didn’t float
my boat.
Model in A Bottle~
Described As (per
Model in A Bottle): “A one-f-a-kind matte finish
setting spray. Model in a Bottle® will hold foundation and eye make-up in place
throughout the day and into the night. This product is resistance to smudging,
tears, humidity and water.”
My
Personal Opinion: The first time I ever used this
product was for my wedding day trial makeup session. When this was sprayed on
my face, I immediately noticed how good it smelled and how fast it dried. The
artist sprayed about 3-4 sprays about 8 inches from my face (after makeup was
done)as a finishing touch and keep the makeup looking fresh. Mine and my
mothers makeup stayed matte for hours the formula didnt leave the skin sticky
or blotchy, and was seriously waterproof (even thru the tears).
I highly recomend as a staple to ANY makeup kit as a boost
of radiance to any skin type. I say any skin type because while it does contain
alcohol to keep you from looking like a grease monkey, it also contains aloe
vera to hydrate/moisturize the skin. Great for a middday refresh/touchup. Give
it a whirl~you will love!!!
Gripe: Kind of hard to find in an actual store unless your
close to a Planet Beauty or something. Better off buying online. Click on the
description link above for more info.
MAC Fix +~
Described as (per MAC MAC Fix+ Spray) An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup.
My Personal Opinion: Hands down the most versatile, effective setting spray on the market...oh and its my personal fave! Its lightweight, refreshing & helps your makeup to stay polished. Here are just a few ways to use this killer product~
Spritz your foundation brush/beauty blender (1 light spray should do) dip your brush into your foundation (I use the back of my hand) and apply to skin. With this step, you can use less foundation as Fix+’s ingredients create smoother blendability and wont leave your makeup cakey.
- To give your shadows something to adhere to (pigments, wet/dry, pressed) lightly spray your shadow brush and dip into your product. Eye makeup will stay put longer, less fall out under the eye, and give better color payoff
- Spritz a bare face or even hair – both will soak up the moisture, smelling clean.
- Spray about 6-8 inches from face after makeup is done for a long lasting stay put look. Fix+ will also help eliminate that dry powdery look that some mineral makeup fans get thru out the day.
While I love a soft matte finish of the Model in a Bottle, Fix+ gives the perfect dewy effect without making you look like you just stepped out of a steam bath. Its the perfect balance for a flawless complexion.
Gripe: Nada~
Even though I alternate both Model in a Bottle and MACs Fix+ often to sort of revive my skin with the switch up, ultimately the FIX+ puts the smack down on all other sprays.MAC’s Fix+ comes out on top against other setting sprays with the benefits from its many uses, versatility and how well the finish compliments a variety of skin types.
Hope this was helpful!!
Take care~
Katie♥
